Platinized titanium mesh is mainly used in electrolyzer stacks as part of the flow field or diffuser material, especially on the oxygen (anode) side, replacing the carbon-based gas diffusion layer (GDL) used in fuel cells. Our platinum-coated titanium mesh is made from expanded titanium that has been flattened and annealed to ensure a smooth, flat surface suitable for use in electrolyzers or fuel cell stacks.

The primary function of the platinum coating is to maintain the substrate's own electrical conductivity for demanding applications such as longer service life or pressurized electrolyzer applications. In industry, it has been observed that platinum-coated titanium mesh can be used on the anode side of PEM electrolyzer hardware at such pressure values.
